This July 17-21, the annual AfroBanana Festival is celebrating arts and music for five days, against the lush green backdrop of Val’s Place in Gialia. Each day of the festival is curated together with one of our ‘Friends’ as the new name suggests. Only giving the honour to the worthiest comrades in musical and artistic appreciation, we welcome on board New Division Pub, Brandy Sour, Animafest, Antiskino, Sousami Bar and Roots Crew Soundsystem.

Wednesday 17 July: New Division. It’s the birthplace of the alternative scene in Cyprus and a legendary icon on the island’s nightlife circuit, where new music and DJ talent is given a platform to shine. And as a true friend of the festival since the beginning, we’ve given New Division a day to curate at this year’s event. And the highlight? Local favourites Trio Tekke will present their new music as the headliners of the day.

Thursday 18 July: Brandy Sour, Animafest. The Brandy Sour crew has a reputation among the most in-the-known music fans, thanks to their consistently epic event series showcasing the hottest local artists and top-notch DJ sets. And now they’re bringing their unparalleled good taste to AfroBanana, curating the music for day two of this year’s event. And all alongside complimentary animation projections put together by our friends at Animafest animation film festival.

Friday 19 July: Sousami, Antiskino, Animafest. Sousami bar has been one of the main hubs of the alternative scene in Cyprus for almost a decade. Not only genuinely friendly and creatively open minded, but it has given birth to great djs and musicians and treated us with established artists from around the globe. Sousami has been at the festival’s side since the beginning and is taking over the curation at this year’s AfroBanana on the 19th of July. Enriching the day, Animafest will be projecting unique animations, while Antiskino theatre festival will also be on site serving up surprise theatrical interventions.

Saturday 20 July: Afrobanana Day, Antiskino, Animafest. Its AfroBanana Festival business as usual on Saturday, with a customary world-class line up including headline acts all the way from Colombia, Japan and Tel Aviv, alongside the very best of our own local talent. As with all five days of the festival this, killer music will be interspersed with an appealing itinerary of wellness workshops, kid’s activities and unexpected happenings, all surrounded by the magic of nature, where the forest meets the sea.

Sunday 21 July: Roots Crew. Our lovely friends over at Roots Crew are taking over on Sunday, for a free day of chilled out, family friendly vibes all day long. Fun kid’s activities will keep the little ones entertained, while reggae beats fill the air. And all surrounded by the most beautiful landscapes the island has to offer – pristine untouched coastline, lush green forest and endless blue skies.
